Are you home educating? Well, we’re delving into 8 amazing reasons why you should educate your child outside!

1. Nature is a classroom

There is no better classroom for children. Nature provides many unique and different resources and there is so much potential and possibility when being outside. In fact, nature can be used in every subject, whether you’re building models out of sticks and leaves and learning about the history of construction, or building a fire and learning some survival skills!

2. You won’t be stuck on things to do

When you’re indoors, you’re limited to doing certain things and using what you already have access to, which can often be tedious. But when you’re outside, there is so much more to do, from parks, beaches, woodlands and more. Even if you visit the same places, your children are unlikely to get bored because every outdoor experience is different.

3. Connect with nature

One of the best reasons to educate your child outside is simply enabling them to connect with nature. In an increasingly technological world, experiencing nature and its benefits is more important than ever.

4. Children thrive outdoors

I’m sure we’ve all seen a difference when our children are outdoors compared to indoors. There’s no better way to burn off energy and give them the freedom to explore and have fun. When outside, they can really let loose, be more imaginative and just thrive!

5. Learning in different weather is much more fun

The weather shouldn’t put you off from educating outside — embrace it! We’d even go as far as to say that learning out in the rain (or even the snow!) is a lot more fun and makes for more memorable experiences!

6. Children gain more experiences

There are many experiences to have when outside, from interacting with animals to exploring new places. And these are the experiences which will help to shape your child.

7. Increases motivation

You’ll often find that children are a lot more motivated during and after they’ve been outside because they are in a much more natural environment and have the right amount of stimulation. Whilst you can’t expect them to be motivated all the time, getting outside can often bring that motivation out of them.

8. Health benefits

Lastly, educating outside has some great health benefits for children. Not only does it provide fresh air, but also exercise, natural curiosity and brain stimulation. Being in the wonderful outdoors is also hugely beneficial for mental health and can bring peace to a chaotic day.
